HISTORY:
APR 1994 Omega rear wheel drive Saloon and Estate range launched in UK with 5-speed manual or 4-speed 3-mode 'adaptive' automatic transmission, independent front and multi-link rear suspension with gas filled dampers, power assisted steering (Speed sensitive except on 2.0i models) and anti-lock brakes. V6 models have traction control system. Select has drivers airbag, remote deadlock central locking with immobiliser, electrically height adjustable drivers seat, electric front windows, heated adjustable mirrors and 8 speaker audio system. GLS also has front passenger airbag, electric sunroof, tilt and lumbar adjustment on drivers seat and uprated audio system. CD also has alloy wheels, front fog lamps, electric rear windows, heated front seats, CD player, alarm, fold down front passenger seat (Saloon only) and electric height adjustment on drivers seat. CDX also has air conditioning, cruise control, electric rear sunscreen, standard metallic paintwork and 6 CD autochanger. CDX Estate has automatic suspension levelling system. Elite (not available until JUL 1994) has leather upholstery, 8 way power adjustable seats (with memory function on drivers seat), headlamp washers, colour-matched bumpers/mouldings/mirrors and heated rear side windows. Estate models have 60/40 split folding rear seats with centre armrest. OCT 1994 Petrol models now have engine deadlock immobiliser. OCT 1995 2.0i 16v CDX and 2.5i V6 Select models launched. FEB 1996 Special Edition 2.0i 16v and 2.5i V6 'Tourer' Estates launched in UK. NOV 1996 Revisions include solar reflective tinted glass, improved ventilation, optional air conditioning instead of sunroof on select and GLS, Elite has cross hatch grille, boot spoiler with integral brake light and leather Recaro sports front seats. FEB 1997 Special Edition 2.5i V6 'Reflection' Saloon launched. MAY 1997 Select and GLS models now have standard air conditioning with optional electric sunroof. OCT 1997 3.0 MV6 Saloon (210 bhp) launched in UK with rear spoiler, 17" alloy wheels, xenon headlamps, side airbags, climate control and CD autochanger. 2.5i V6 Elite models launched with equipment as 3.0i V6 Elite. Revisions include adjustable steering column and steering wheel mounted audio controls on all models. Auto models have 'shift lock'. CDX and Elite have side airbags. Elite has xenon headlamps and Bose audio. Elite 3.0 V6 has Carin Navigation system. 3.0 V6 models have traction control system. JAN 1998 2.0 TDi 16v GLS (100 bhp turbo-diesel) Saloon and Estate launched. APR 1998 2.0 Bi-Fuel (Petrol/LPG) GLS, CD and CDX models available. APR 1999 2.0 DTi (100 bhp) direct injection diesel launched.

COMMENTS:
Smart, sensible but slightly staid, top specification models are the ones to hold their value. Spacious interiors, good engines and high levels of comfort for a reasonable price.
